World
Education is working in partnership
with indigenous NGOs to strengthen their
capacity in organizational development,
training of trainers, the development
of IEC materials, and advocacy skills
to support district-level activities conducted
by community-based AIDS Committees. To
date, World Education has developed a
model of bringing together key public
sector and NGO stakeholders to develop,
design and produce user-oriented voluntary
counseling and testing (VCT) and prevention
of mother to child transmission (PMTCT)
training materials for use by facilities-based
counselors, nurses and social workers
in both the public and private sector.
When complete, these training materials
will be approved by the Ministry of Health
and recommended for use throughout the
country. In addition, World Education
is working with the District HIV/AIDS
Committees (district level HIV/AIDS governmental
coordinating body) to build capacity in
strategic planning, work plan development
and activity coordination and monitoring.
